Poetry Month Resources

Did you know, April is National Poetry Month?
It is and below are some great resouces for using
with your kids during this celebration of poetry!

Both Shel Silverstein

and Jack Prelutsky have great websites with poetry activies for kids.

There are quite a few online rhyming dictionaires but these two are my favorites: 

Read, Write, Think has some great poetry interactives including:
Acrostic Poems

PBS has this super fun Haiku creator

Scholastic has a Poetry Idea Engine that teaches 
about haiku, limmerick, cinquain, and free verse.

Poetry Splatter is a great resources for creating poetry that's 
divided by age level by Reading is Fundamental!

Magnetic Poetry has lots of fabulous online kits!
All have the ability to add more words, start over, save, and share your poems!

These two are specifically for kids:

Twitter Magnets was created to let people make a poem and 
post it to their twitter account.
