Newsmap takes news feeds from Google News and creates a visual picture based on the popularity of each story. It updates constantly as news breaks with the tiles linking to the actual stories. This site it a great way to get an instant snap-shot of what is going on in the world at any given time.

In Newsmap, the size of each cell is determined by the number of related articles that exist for that particular topic in Google News. Because of this, users can quickly identify which news stories are given the most coverage and can view the map by region, topic, or time.
Newsmap also allows the viewer to compare the news landscape among several countries, making it possible to differentiate which countries give more coverage to, for example, more national news than international or sports rather than business.
Thanks to my friend Donna for sharing this great resource with me!
