Anagram Maker

What is an anagram?

noun: A word or phrase formed by rearranging the letters of another word or phrase.
verb: To rearrange letters in such a way. To anagrammatize.

The Internet Anagram Server is a great site for creating anagrams for using in your classroom.  You simply type in the word or words (24 letters or less) you want to make an anagram for, click on get anagrams, and voila- a list is created instantly!

Anagrams are a great  tool for stimulating students to think critically. The shorter the word(s) you enter, the shorter your list of anagrams is. For example, I entered technology rocks and was given a list of 11,559 anagrams.  I entered just technology and was given a list of 103 words. There is also an advanced anagrams section where you can change preferences to whittle down the list of anagrams by changing things such as number of words in the anagram, number of repeated letters, etc.
