Christmas in Colonial Williamsburg

Christmas in Colonial Williamsburg is an absolutely wonderful site full of information about Christmas during the 1700's.

The site includes slideshows, songs, videos, podcasts, recipes, downloads, journal articles, music, games, timelines, electronic fieldtrips, and interactive activities. It's a great place for students to experience how settlers celebrated Christmas.

It also includes sixteen interdisciplinary lesson plans that truly capture the essence of Colonial Williamsburg. As an extra bonus, the background research for the plans are hotlinked into each lesson. These lessons make it easy to plan an entire unit on life in Williamsburg, from mathematics to a colonial Christmas.

While you are there be sure to sign up for the free e-newsletter to keep up to date on offerings to teachers from Williamsburg. Make sure you also visit the Kids Zone games and information for additional research to enhance your lessons.  This site is fabulous for making history come alive for your students!
